Ghost Truckers on the Slab

An old trucker went heading out one dark and stormy night

Up on a ramp he pulled in to check a bum headlight

When suddenly a string of ghostly rigs he saw rush by,

A-ballin’ hell for leather – he could hear their train horns
cry



“We were undone … by regulation,”

Five feet high and risin’ …


“How high’s the water, mama? Five feet high and risin’ ...”



Johnny Cash sang those words to illustrate how a family, his
family, endured a flood while working the land in rural Arkansas. As the water level
rises – two feet, then three, then four and eventually five – the family must
decide whether to ride it out or get to higher ground.



Truckers are facing a similar dilemma these days.

End of the trail




When you read this I have come to the end of the trail, rode
off into the last sunset, cashed in my chips, however you want to say it. I’m
history … gone from this world.



I started writing this in August 2011 when I went from being
on the liver transplant list, hopeful and waiting for that phone call, to the doctor
telling me the cancer had come back big time. They told me the transplant

Officials in
Pennsylvania got together this week to discuss transportation problems in the
state and what needs to be done to start solving those problems.



The House and Senate
transportation committees met with various officials over the course of two
days on a Transportation Funding Advisory Commission plan to raise about $2.5
billion in new funding within five years for transportation
